The 20^th anniversary season opens with a world premiere by Artistic Director, Frank Chaves, and, a new twist on the Company's classic signature piece, Reality of a Dreamer, re-envisioned by Co-Artistic Director Emerita, Sherry Zunker.  Last season’s hit Uhuru by Company member Monique Haley will return to the stage, along with other repertoire favorites including the colorful full ensemble piece Habaneras, the Music of Cuba.

Artistic Director of New York's Battleworks Dance Company, Robert Battle, returns to River North Chicago to follow 2008’s exhilarating Train with a world premiere and his bravura solo, Ella, celebrating the scat vocals of Ella Fitzgerald. Following her recent success with American Ballet Theatre, in-demand, cutting-edge choreographer of 2006’s ahimsa, Lauri Stallings, returns to showcase her world premiere entitled suppose. Break-out premieres from River North’s fall engagement, Evolution of a Dream and Forbidden Boundaries, will return to the stage to round out the Company’s 20th Anniversary season.

Workshops

River North Chicago workshops offer the opportunity to study with Artistic Director Frank Chaves, Assistant to the Artistic Director Sara Bibik, River North Chicago company members, River North Chicago alumni, and guest faculty including Sherry Zunker, River North Chicago's co-artistic director emerita, and Ballet Mistresses Claire Bataille and Laura Wade.

The Company hosts workshops throughout the year in our home studios in Chicago, offering a professional environment, an average class size of 30 dancers, and a focus on individualized instruction.
