WorkshopsRiver North Chicago workshops offer the opportunity to study with Artistic Director Frank Chaves, Assistant to the Artistic Director Sara Bibik, River North Chicago company members, River North Chicago alumni, and guest faculty including Sherry Zunker, River North Chicago's co-artistic director emerita, and Ballet Mistresses Claire Bataille and Laura Wade. The Company hosts workshops throughout the year in our home studios in Chicago as well as in studios in the surrounding suburbs, offering a professional environment, an average class size of 30 dancers, and a focus on individualized instruction. One-day workshops, designed for dancers aged 12 and up, are a great way to introduce yourself to a River North Chicago workshop experience or to keep up your River North Chicago style in between summer programs. This year, River North Chicago Dance Company is pleased to offer a three-workshop series that includes a suburban location. Each of these workshops will run from 10am – 5pm: February 17 March 9 April 6 ***See Photos from our April 6th Workshop!***One-day workshops offer a full-day schedule of classes taught by River North Chicago’s acclaimed workshop faculty, including jazz technique, ballet technique, company repertoire, and acting, style, & expression. The one-day workshops also include a live audition opportunity for the Summer 2008 Intensive program, July 30 – August 9. Dancers will be observed throughout the day for possible acceptance into the program. Interested parties will be asked to sign in as such at the beginning of the day and will be notified of their results via mail by April 28. (Note: video auditions for the Summer Intensive will also be accepted and are due on April 11. See the Summer Programs section below for more details on video requirements). AuditionsJanuary 12, 2008 April 13, 2008 River North Chicago is a national touring company with a repertoire that requires stylistic range with strong jazz and ballet technique. Ability to relocate to Chicago and travel a must. Salaried pay. Contract length and number of open company positions TBD. For all auditions, please be prepared for a ballet combination (no Pointe) and jazz combination followed by River North Chicago repertoire. Warm up not provided. No fee. Most of RNCDC’s workshops are held at the company’s home studios in The Ruth Page Center, located at 1016 N. Dearborn Parkway in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast. The Center is bordered by Maple St. on the north and Oak St. on the south; it is one block east of Clark St. and one block west of State St. The Center is accessible by the CTA Red Line (Clark & Division stop) and the Clark, Broadway, and Division bus lines (click here for the Chicago Transit Authority website), there is limited parking in the lot adjacent to the building, as well as parking garages and metered spaces in the neighborhood.
